This is a District general Hospital in East Anglia. Where I was working with three consultants, along with two Senior House Officers and a Staff Grade Surgeon. I was exposed to Endo Nasal Surgery, Ontological Procedures and routine ENT procedures. I took very active pare in local and Sub - Regional Audit meetings. I did study on Adenoidal Hypertrophy and on Glue ears.

During my stay here I saw new and follow - up patients, performed pre-operative assessments and post operative care, performed surgical procedures independently and under supervision and was responsible for the emergency admissions twice a week. I participated in teaching Audit sessions and inter-departmental meetings, which helped me to get my fellowship of the Royal College of Edinburgh.

    I was in charge of this rural medical centre for three years as part of the primary health care service of the state of Tamil Nadu. This job provided me with considerable experience in managing a wide variety of general medical and surgical problems of a large rural population of the South Indian State of Tamil Nadu.

  • Research Experience
  • During my period of post graduate training in Otolaryngology, I studied the prevalence of Nasopharyngeal Angiofibroma in a tertiary referral centre in south India and submitted a dissertation to the University of Madras, in partial fulfilment for the aware of Masters Degree in Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery.

    I audited the pattern of post -operative wound infection in a general surgical ward in the University Hospital of Madras while I was working as a Senior House Officer in the General Surgical specialities. The conclusions were presented at the monthly general surgical forum of the hospital.

    I participated in a study evaluating the sensitivity of Microscopic Diathermic dissection of the tonsils to detect post -Tonsillectomy bleeding, with a view to minimising hospital stay.

    Comparative study of Adenoidal Hypertrophy. X-ray postnasal space vs. 70 degree rigid Nasendoscope. At Ipswich Hospital, studied the use of Ear drops in post Mastoidectomy patients and presented at the South Zone Conference India.

  • Academic And Teaching Experience
  • During my tenure as the Senior ENT Resident in Madras Medical College Hospital, I was regularly involved in the conduct of lectures and clinical demonstration sessions for undergraduate and junior ENT residents of the Medical College. As a faculty member of the Chengelput Medical college for eighteen months and eighteen months as registrar at Ipswich UK, I used to train undergraduate medical students in the basic concepts pf Otolaryngology.

    Currently part time teaching faculty at Perundurai medical college Perundurai for the past five years.

Hobbies and Other Interests

    I enjoy travelling and travelled extensively in the U K, Europe and over the Indian Sub-Continent. I spend most of my leisure time with my family. I practice yogic meditation and keep myself fit by playing badminton and regular swimming.
